Extremely talented and incredibly gifted Vaibhav Suryavanshi did create history at fourteen years old, and thus became the youngest centurion in T20 format cricket. He led the Rajasthan Royals to an unbelievable victory by eight wickets against the Gujarat Titans in another Indian Premier League match held in Jaipur. Suryavanshi made hell to pay for all the bowlers from the Gujarat camp, smashing an incredible 11 sixes and 7 fours to build a score of 101 off just 38 balls to help the team achieve an imposing 209 run target in just 15.5 overs.
The left-handed wonder reached the magical 100th mark in just 35 the second fastest in IPL history-while building an indomitable opening partnership of 166 with Yashasvi Jaiswal. “It is a good feeling. It is my first hundred in IPL and it has come in the third innings. The result speaks of the practice before the tournament. I see the ball and I just play. It has been my dream to get a hundred in IPL, and today, it happened. There is no fear. I don’t think much,” Suryavanshi said.
His century also created an IPL record for the fastest by an Indian, eclipsing Yusuf Pathan’s record of 37 balls, which was made for Rajasthan against the Mumbai Indians in 2010. “Many congratulations to young Vaibhav Suryavanshi for breaking my record of the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian,” Pathan congratulated the youngster on his achievement.
Suryavanshi was first in the news when he became the youngest player at the age of 13 to sign an IPL contract. This month, he made his debut by hitting a six off his first ball. A year ago, he played in the domestic Ranji Trophy at 12 years old and now holds a century representing India Under-19 against Australia, scoring it in 58 balls.
