Stricter regulations have been implemented by the Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2025: “No sleeveless attire at presentations, no family access.” The BCCI has predominantly adopted its recently initiated SOPs for the Indian team, which by extension are being placed upon the 10 IPL franchises in line with the preparation for the 2025 season.
Acting to facilitate greater control following India’s Test series loss in Australia, the BCCI laid down a fresh set of regulations wherein personal managers would no longer be allowed on the team bus, nor would family members be allowed to accompany the team on tour.
Although some of these specific SOPs may not apply to a multi-team set-up like IPL, some of them have certainly found their way into this prestigious T20 league. A communication from BCCI to team managers read, “Players to use the team bus while coming for practice. Teams may travel in two batches.”
No player families are allowed into the dressing rooms on practice days, including the ones with lighter schedules. “On practice days (during pre-tournament & tournament), only accredited staff is allowed in the dressing room and on the field of play. Player family members and friends to travel in a different vehicle and can watch team practice from the hospitality area.”
For inordinate support staff (throw-down specialists/net bowlers), a list needs to be submitted for the BCCI’s endorsement. Upon approval, the relevant non-match day accreditations will be issued.
It was further mentioned in the BCCI note, “For extended support staff (throw down specialist/net bowlers) list need to be submitted for approval to BCCI. Once approved, non-match day accreditations will be issued for the same.”
The franchise dispatches did show support towards BCCI initiatives. The board further cautioned the batters from hitting the advertising LED boards just beyond the boundary. The official said, “Despite providing hitting nets, player keep hitting on the LED boards. We request teams to adhere to it.”
