In the Zimbabwe vs India U-19 game from the U-19 World Cup, Vihaan Malhotra headlined a massive 204-run win for India. In their super six fixture of the U19 World Cup in Bulawayo, India’s openers, Aaron George and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, raced to 44/0 in the first four overs. Zimbabwe took George’s wicket to break that partnership. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued to score runs from the other end and reached 50 in no time. Then, Zimbabwe retaliated by picking two quick wickets and reduced India to 130/4. However, they couldn’t do anything from that point on.
At that point, Malhotra joined forces with Abhigyan Kundu and registered a century stand for India. Kundu also hit a half-century, but Malhotra batted deep into the innings with the lower-order batters. In the end, he finished off with 109 runs from 107 balls. However, it was Khilan Patel who contributed a quickfire 30 from just 12 balls to take India to a mammoth 352 for 8 wickets. Khilan hit 3 sixes and 1 four in his innings.
Zimbabwe was facing a daunting task in the second innings. It was clear from the beginning that Zimbabwe was not going to pose a serious threat while chasing the target. To make matters worse, they lost an opener off just the second ball of the innings.
Three batters of the top four from the Zimbabwe team failed to reach double-digit scores, with RS Ambrish and Henil Patel taking early wickets. Only Leeroy Chiwaula stood batted sensibly for Zimbabwe and scored a fighting half-century (62) for his team. Apart from him, only two other batters could manage to get to double digits. The Indian captain, Ayush Mhatre, tried his luck at bowling, and he took 3 wickets for 14 in 4 overs. Udhav Mohan closed Zimbabwe’s innings in the 38th over by picking up two wickets.
