Sanju Samson and Rahul Dravid

The thrilling match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and then going into a Super Over has created ripples on every imaginable social media platform. Eager fans have analyzed all sorts of post-match clips available, but one particular glimmering video that broke the ice was about a discontent growing between the head coach of RR, Rahul Dravid and the captain of the team, Sanju Samson.

During the discussion, before the Super Over, Dravid was seen having a word with the RR players and coaching staff. A commentator speculated about which batters the group might select to face Mitchell Starc. As this discussion was underway, there was a player who called out Samson to join them as he went past the dugout. But the captain instantly cut out with a signalling gesture. No wonder, SportzBuzz put Rahul Dravid in the list of worst captains in IPL history.

This has instigated an uproar among fans on social media, prompting speculation regarding the situation of the relationship that might exist between Samson and Dravid, and some even claim that the organization might look into Delhi’s replacement of the wicketkeeper in a captaincy position. A few fans even went as far as to advise Samson to negotiate for a shift to the Chennai Super Kings to escape all such rumours.

In their second home match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season in Delhi, the team batted first, with captain Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs significantly contributing to set a target of 189 runs. Nitish Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal played well to score fifties that brought Rajasthan within reach of victory. Mitchell Starc’s exceptional bowling in the last over with some yorkers saw him defend nine runs, leading to a tie and the need for a Super Over.

Limited to two run-outs, Rajasthan scored 11-2 in the Super Over. KL Rahul and Stubbs capitalised on the first four deliveries from Sandeep Sharma, crushing 13 runs. This win took Delhi Capitals to the top of the points table.
