Iceland Cricket’s official social media account, known for its witty and straightforward posts about the game, caught everyone’s eye on Monday with a quirky update about the ongoing IPL 2025. They took a jab at the season’s worst performances by putting together a playing XI and an impact player, cheekily calling it the ‘IPL 2025 frauds and scammers team.’
The squad of 12 featured five players from Chennai Super Kings (CSK), two from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Also one player each from Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was also included in the squad.
Significantly, players that had high bids this year like Venkatesh Iyer and Rishab Pant are part of the squads. The players were sold for INR 23.75 crore and INR 27 crore respectively. Additionally, Pant was named the captain as well as wicketkeeper of this unique lineup.
The opening pair is of Rahul Tripathi (CSK) and Rachin Ravindra (CSK) with Ishan Kishan (SRH) and Pant (LSG) following them in the lineup.
Iyer joined forces with international stars Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone to complete the middle order, with Deepak Hooda stepping in as the finisher. Coming to the bowlers, the team included R Ashwin (CSK), Mohammed Shami (SRH) and Matheesha Pathirana again from CSK. The 12th man added to the squad is Mukesh Kumar (DC).
The post on X read: “On a rainy day in Reyjavík, we give you our IPL 2025 frauds and scammers team: R Tripathi, R Ravindra, I Kishan, R Pant (c & wk), V Iyer, G Maxwell, L Livingstone, D Hooda, R Ashwin, M Pathirana, M Shami; No impact player: M Kumar.”
The hefty price tags have taken a toll on both Pant and Iyer, who are having a season in 2025 that they’d probably prefer to forget. Don’t forget to check out our list of best free apps to watch IPL 2025 LIVE streaming on mobile and capture all your favorite moments.
