At the venue, the IPL 2025 game set for Thursday night in Dharamsala between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) was suddenly halted “due to a major technical problem.”
One of the lighting towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned because of a power outage in the vicinity. BCCI apologises for the disruption caused to the in-stadium audience, according to an official announcement. Having advanced only 10, the game had PBKS elect to bat first and 1 over of the first innings. Opening hitters Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh created a strong team during that time, reaching a century stand before T Natarajan bowled out Arya for 70 runs off 34 balls.
Around 9:29 PM IST, three floodlight towers turned dark, breaking the IPL match in Dharamsala. It came out approximately 11 minutes later that the game would not go on. Furthermore delayed because of rain was the toss and beginning of the game. The toss was done at 8:15 PM IST, after the 7 PM planned time, and the game started at 8:30 PM IST without any overs gone.
Dharamsala will be the scene of PBKS’s next game against the Mumbai Indians (MI) rather than Ahmedabad. Knowing that a victory would allow them to be the first team to guarantee a top-four playoff position, PBKS strove for success against Delhi. Both Punjab as well as Delhi have been part of IPL since pat 18 years, although the names of the teams have changed.
However, unfortunately, both teams have not been able to win the trophy so far, and this season they are fighting to change their destiny. As of now, Delhi is in the 5th position on the points table with 14 points, whereas Punjab is ahead of Delhi with 16 points. There are still chances that both teams would qualify for the playoffs if they continue to perform well and probably secure the trophy this year.
