India, in one of the most spectacular performances in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-final, which eventually turned out to be an astonishing upset, was routed, in a way of saying, by Australia, the champion of the last World Cup. The greatest credit went to Jemimah Rodrigues, the Indian player, thanks to her faultless century. India has secured its place in the finals of the tournament by chasing the big target successfully.
With the whole world looking on, India was put to the test and eventually started to chase down the mammoth total made by Australia, i.e. 338 in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-final. The loss of wickets early clearly did not stop the team from being very vibrant, as the Indian players faced the tough situation at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
Jemimah Rodrigue came to bat very early and provided India with the required strength. She became the very backbone of the innings, gentle but at the same time very effective, as the batters were losing their wickets at one end, she was still there at the other end, slowly but surely. Her rock-solid and masterful 127 runs came off 134 balls and had the number of 14 four hits, a victory of both persistence and excellence.

India’s win was characterized by the consequence of the present moment; hence, the World Women’s ODI had the most successful run chase in history. Rodrigues was in close partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who herself was the owner of a brilliant 89 contributions throughout the innings to steady the boys and create the push. At first, India was still in the mode of just surviving, but as the relationship matured, it began to be assertive slowly.
