With a fantastic showing of talent, KL Rahul scored an amazing century for the Delhi Capitals on Sunday during their IPL 2025 game against the Gujarat Titans.
With 14 boundaries and four sixes, Rahul ended with a remarkable score of 112 runs off just 65 balls, marking his fifth century in the IPL. After the legendary Virat Kohli, who has eight, he became only the second Indian cricketer ever to have five or more IPL centuries. Following Virat is Butler with 7 centuries and Chris Gayle with 6 centuries.
Rahul, with this century, got his seventh century in his T20 career. Significantly, in doing so, he entered the history books as the first-ever player to score centuries for three franchises in the IPL, the others being the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul’s move to open proved vital as he took Delhi Capitals to a big 199/3 in 20 overs against Titans. Rahul was magnificent against a tricky pitch, scoring the fifth IPL century mainly with clean hitting.
It was a good innings for Rahul himself and came at an appropriate time for the team, with support coming in from Abishek Porel (30 runs from 19 balls), captain Axar Patel (25 runs from 16 balls), and Tristan Stubbs (not out 21 runs from 10 balls).
Getting to bat first, Rahul hit Mohammed Siraj two boundaries while Faf du Plessis was finding it hard to hit against the talented pacers of Gujarat. There was no stopping Rahul as he used skills and techniques in the match to reach the 100 score.
Even when Rahul hardly faced any balls during the final few overs, he still managed to smash a brilliant six off Prasidh while celebrating his century before absorbing the support of the home crowd and ending the innings with two more boundaries off Siraj, consequently making the chase a difficult pitch for the Gujarat Titans.
