India’s capital, on November 27, 2025, not only celebrated national pride but also acknowledged the achievement as Narendra Modi welcomed the winning Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team at his official residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. The first female blind cricketers’ T20 World Cup victory is a big step in terms of women’s blind cricket across India and the world.

PM Modi hosted the Indian blind cricket team

At the invitation of the PM Narendra Modi, each player was greeted personally at the meet-and-greet, received sweets, and had friendly talks with the coaches and players. As a token of gratitude, the team presented him with a bat signed by all; in return, he signed a cricket ball for them.

The meeting was a tribute to stubbornness, talent, and toughness; it was more than just a ceremony. The team had captivated the nation with their sporting skills; they had dismantled the Nepal Women’s Blind Cricket Team in the final in Colombo by seven wickets.

Modi showered congratulations on the team’s determination and unity during his address. He pointed out that their success, their difficult eyesight impairment notwithstanding, proves that ‘vision is never a barrier.’

The team was quite bullish during the competition. The last match of the tournament saw India restricting Nepal to only 114 runs and then easily chasing down the target in less than 12 overs.

To a lot of players, this was proof, a confirmation that the skill and the perseverance have no physical limitations, rather a victory only. PM’s residence will be the venue for a reception that will not only bring visibility to blind women’s cricket but also emphasize the need for improved infrastructure and support for athletes with disabilities and eventually lead to more national sponsorship.

The triumph of the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, and the praise it won, could be a turning point in India’s view and backing of sports for all, as the cheer goes through the corridors of power and the stands of cricket.
