Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made the announcement that South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder will join them for the IPL 2025 season. The announcement came after the franchise failed to get an adequate replacement for the injured fast bowler Brydon Carse from England.
Mulder joins the franchise for a purse value of INR 75 lakh. Carse was expected to play a pivotal role in SRH’s bowling lineup, but after injuring himself, he is now unable to compete. The specifics of the injury and the recovery timeline remain unknown; indeed, the injury is a considerable disadvantage for the team.
At 26, Wiaan Mulder has played for South Africa in all three forms of international cricket, with 11 T20 internationals, 18 Test matches, and 25 ODIs to his credit. He has amassed 970 runs and taken 60 wickets on international stages.
Mulder is an all-rounder and can lay claim to being a solid middle-order batsman and a medium pacer who can swing the ball well. His all-around ability will further boost the prospects of the SRH squad. x
Said an official, “Mulder brings a valuable balance to the lineup. While he may not possess the same speed as Carse, his precision and skill in moving the ball will prove beneficial.”
Preparing for IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad has revamped its squad through a synergy of seasoned pros and fresh faces. The addition of Mulder increases their third-option all-rounder potential, allowing greater room for flexibility in choosing the Playing XI.
Determined to climb back into their winning ways after the KKR defeat in the IPL 2024 final, SRH fans are eager to see how Mulder fits into the side to help fulfil its ambitions in the elite T20 league.
Pat Cummins (INR 18 Cr.), Abhishek Sharma (INR 14 Cr.), Nitish Reddy (INR 6 Cr.), Heinrich Klaasen (INR 23 Cr.), and Travis Head (INR 14 Cr.) are some of the prominent names retained by SRH.
