The Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2025 witnessed a feat by Priyansh Arya. The young talent from Punjab Kings (PBKS) began his IPL career with great promise. After his initial fireworks against Gujarat Titans, with scores of 47, 8, and 0, against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, he realized his big potential by achieving his first century in IPL.
The innings reverberated with 4 fours and 9 sixes, while Shashank Singh scored a half-century to enable PBKS to reach 219/6. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) put up a valiant chase but fell martyred at 201/5, losing by 18 runs: their fourth defeat this season. Priyansh’s rise from the streets of Delhi to playing for the IPL 2014 finalists stands for the highs and lows of his journey. Probably, every cricket fan will agree that getting into Delhi cricket is tough.

What may be unknown to some is the fact that Priyansh’s coach, Sanjay Bharadwaj, a name taken seriously in the Delhi cricket circuit to approve Priyansh for the Delhi U19 trials, paid the trial fee, INR 45,000, for the school tournament, to ensure that his student had his chance.
Bhardwaj shared, “He was not in the U19 selection process. There was a tournament that a former India player was organising. The U19 selector was Gurusharan Singh. I wanted Priyansh to feature in the tournament as I was confident he would become the Player of the Series.”
He further added, “I thought if he ends up performing well, I will request Gurusharan to consider him for a trial.” By a stroke of luck, everything fell into place. Priyansh played in the trial match, won the tournament, and he was named Player of the Series, receiving a bat from Ajay Jadeja. Priyansh has a promising career ahead, which would be interesting to watch.
