BCCI released the retainer list of central contracts for the 2025-2026 season on Monday. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been handed a Grade B central contract.
BCCI has removed the A+ category from the list for this season. Now, there are only three categories, A, B, and C. Shubmal Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah are handed the top Grade A contract.
Across these three Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C categories, 30 players have been given central contracts this season. Five players from the last season have missed out on central contracts this year. Sai Sudarshan is the only addition in Grade C for the 2025-2026 season.
With only three brackets, this year, Grade B has 11 players in it. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya have moved into this bracket. Washington Sudar has been promoted to Grade B. Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav retain their spot in this grade. Mohammad Shami has lost the central contract. He was in Grade A last year.
Ishan Kishan, who was in Grade C last year, misses out this year. Players like Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, and Mukesh Kumar also missed out on this. Axar Patel was demoted from his usual Grade B to Grade C.
The other players in the Grade C contracts are: Dhruv Jurel, Varun Chakaravarthy, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and the promoted Sudharsan.
