India Vs England

It was a night filled with runs as India and England locked horns in a race to reach the final. Nearly 500 runs were scored on the night in 40 overs.

India edged past England in a dramatic finish, where Jacob Bethell was the sole warrior from England who pushed for a victory.

India won the game, thanks to Sanju Samson’s career-defining knock in an important semi-final. Jasprit Bumrah also displayed some good quality bowling to hold England off a record chase. But to win the game, India had to overcome the threat of Jacob Bethell. He played an innings for ages from a precarious situation. Bethell’s 105 off 48 balls kept England in the chase of over 250 runs till the final over.

India set a mammoth 254 runs target for England to win. Multiple batters contributed for India, including Sanju Samson, who rescued India againstthe  West Indies. He made 89 off just 42 deliveries.

Samson stitched two important partnerships with Ishan Kishan and Shivam Dube to take India to a mammoth total of 253 runs. Ishan contributed with 39 runs, while Shivam Dube made 43. In the end, Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Verma (21) gave India the finish they were looking for.

There was a moment in the match that turned out to be crucial. Harry Brook, the England captain, dropped Samson on 15 off Jofra Archer. After that, Jofra wasn’t able to find his rhythm. In contrast, Axar Patel held on to two of the brilliant catches in the game.

In response, both English openers scored boundaries in the early innings. Salt sliced one to the edge of the ring off Hardik Pandya’s first ball of the second over. Bumrah came to bowl in the fifth over as India kept their best weapon for the last. He took Harry Brook with him on the first ball of the over.

It was Bethell who held one end for England, and the partners at the other end kept changing. Bethell silenced the crowd with a second ball swivel pull for six over fine leg. After that, he greeted Varun Chakarvarthy for three sixes in a row.

Bethell kept fighting at one end, but he ran out of partners on the other end. He was run out off the first ball in the 20th over, trying to retain the strike by taking two runs.
