At present, there are 14 batters who have reached the 200-run mark but are still a few shy of it. But only two players have crossed the much-coveted mark of 300 runs, and just another is set to do so. These three players have mostly led the top category since the beginning of the tournament.
Number one is Nicholas Pooran with 357 runs, although he took an off-game from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With 329 runs so far, he is followed by B Sai Sudharsan, while Mitchell Marsh is at 295 runs.
It has been super competitive as this player has also amassed 250 in Shreyas Iyer, to which Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are doing close catch-ups. Besides this are also the hard-working, along with the likes of Buttler, Head, Verma, Salt, Gill, Markram, Rahane, and KL Rahul.
At present, Pooran and Sai Sudharsan are perched nicely above the tide, but a couple of indifferent efforts and some good showings from those pursuing would shake things up very quickly. Take a look at the complete list of IPL 2025 purple cap race.
Noor Ahmad’s first match without a wicket happened to be against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), but a 4-over, 13-run, no-wicket performance left many calling it a Player-of-the-Match performance. He is also still ahead in the list of Purple Cap, with 12 under his belt.
He’s followed closely behind by Khaleel Ahmed (CSK) and Shardul Thakur (LSG), who are also one wicket shy. While Khaleel picked up a wicket against LSG, Thakur missed out on either equaling or eclipsing Noor’s tally by finishing without a wicket. The current roster is also composed of Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Prasidh Krishna, R Sai Kishore, and Mohammed Siraj, all ten wickets under their names.
It will be fun to watch which players maintain the lead on both leaderboards and who eventually brings the Orange and Purple caps home at the end of the season.
