MS Dhoni had a real bummer tonight as he got out in the last-over chase against Punjab Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2025 match on Monday. Needing 28 runs in the final over, Dhoni fell at the very first delivery cast by Yash Thakur, having scored 27 runs. He had been in tremendous touch, having cracked one four and three sixes, bringing the chase intriguingly close; however, he misplayed a low full toss from Thakur straight to Yuzvendra Chahal at short fine-leg.
He had frustration written all over his face as he walked back to the dugout, with CSK losing the match in the end by 18 runs. Priyansh Arya, the rookie opener, showed all his promise with a wonderful century and led the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to an 18-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), even though late fireworks from Dhoni threatened.
Priyansh scored 103 runs off just 42 deliveries, setting Punjab Kings’ total to 219 for six, as that is the highest score ever recorded at this venue despite the team having lost half its players within the first eight. So, even though CSK’s batting has let the fans down throughout the season, this time, Conway managed the scores with 69 runs off 49 balls, and then he retired. Rachin Ravindra made 36 runs off 23 balls, while Shivam Dube made 42 runs off 27 balls. At last, CSK fell short again, tallying 201 for five.
Not to beat about the bush, this was Chennai Super King’s fourth defeat in five matches, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) celebrated their third victory and took their campaign to three wins in four. So, when Dube fell in the 16th over, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) required 75 from the last 30 balls, and the crowd went crazy with Dhoni (27 off 12) batting at number five.
