CSK Legend MS Dhoni hints at IPL future

The Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 22, 2025, with a bang as the CSK legend, MS Dhoni will be walking back into the field. The cricketing icon declared his retirement from international cricket after playing for India against New Zealand in the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal on July 9, 2019.

Though it is almost six years now that this day has passed, Dhoni has continued to remain an instrumental player for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He is going to take part in the upcoming one as an uncapped player since the time he has been a retired international cricketer for more than five years.

He threw some light on his last few years in IPL during an event launch on Wednesday. While talking to PTI, he shared, “Since my retirement in 2019, it feels like a long time. What I’ve focused on is simply enjoying cricket in these last few years, however many I have left.”

Further adding to his statement he said, “I want to relish the game like I did as a child. Back in school, 4 PM was our sports hour, and we would rush out to play cricket whenever we could. Of course, if the weather didn’t cooperate, we’d switch to football. I aim to play with that same childlike joy… though I know it’s easier said than done.”

The cricketing legend added, “As a cricketer, my ultimate goal was always to perform for the Indian team. I’ve mentioned before that not everyone gets the opportunity to represent their country.”Former Indian Captain, Dhoni told PTI, “For us, every time we stepped onto the grand stage or went on tour, it was a chance to bring honor to our nation. For me, the country has always been the top priority. You always need to figure out what is good for you.”
