Corbin Bosch, the South African all-rounder, is suspended from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for a year following his decision to withdraw from the tournament for joining Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the ban on Thursday, alleging Bosch violated a contract with PSL team Peshawar Zalmi. Bosch had been drafted by Zalmi in January for the 2025 PSL season but chose to sign with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in place of fellow South African Lizaad Williams, who had been sidelined with injury. The PCB was compelled to act quickly after noting the overlap of IPL and PSL calendars this year.
“The all-rounder will serve a one-year ban and will not be eligible for selection in next year’s Pakistan Super League,” noted the PCB in their press statement. The board had previously issued a legal notice to Bosch, declaring his withdrawal post-drafting as a breach of player agreement. Following the announcement of the ban, he came out in public with an apology for his decision.
“I deeply regret my decision … and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi and the wider cricket community,” said Bosch.
“I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions … but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans.”
Though the Indian Premier League (IPL) coincides with the PSL, Pakistan’s leading T20 tournament will still feature international players. David Warner from Australia, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Seifert, Michael Bracewell from New Zealand, Jason Holder from the West Indies, and Rassie van der Dussen from South Africa will be part of PSL 2025.
Bosch will miss the 2026 PSL season, but he remains a member of the Mumbai Indians.
