This season, Mumbai Indians, the most dangerous IPL team chose to retain five players including their core batting unit of Rhot Sharma, Suyrakumar Yadav, and Tilak Verma. Going into auction, they were left with INR 45 crore in the purse. 

Since there was an option to retain six players for every franchise, they still had a Right to Match (RTM) card for one Indian uncapped player.
