For the three months ending on June 30, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries announced amazing financial and operational results from its media and entertainment wing, JioStar. A remarkable spike in JioStar revenue digital and television viewership during the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket competition propelled much of this success.
Beginning in April and ending in March in India, the financial year makes this the first fiscal quarter for FY2025–26 for the corporation. With JioStar revenues of INR11,222 crore ($1.3 billion), JioStar showed a gain of INR11,032 crore ($1.28 billion) in the previous period. With margins improving to 10. 6% from 8. 1%, the EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) reached INR1,017 crore ($118.1 million), up from INR774 crore ($89.9 million).
With more than 460 million monthly active users throughout this quarter, the group’s main streaming service, JioHotstar revenues surpassed one billion Android downloads. The 2025 IPL was very important for this expansion; JioHotstar alone drew 652 million viewers, which represents a 28% annual increase. “With 55.2 million, the peak concurrency throughout the IPL final set the most-watched T20 game ever on digital channels. IPL 2025 attracted a stunning 1.19 billion viewers overall over two channels.”, says JioStar’s Sanjog Gupta at APOS.
Linear television viewership also saw an astounding increase. Reaching over 800 million people throughout the quarter, the JioStar network claimed a 35.5% share of the entertainment viewership market. Star Plus kept its place as the leading Hindi-language general entertainment channel, featuring six of the top ten programs, while Star Utsav rose to the top-rated free-to-air channel on DD Free Dish.
Regarding entertainment options, JioHotstar reached its greatest monthly watch-time in June. According to Ormax Media, the series ‘Criminal Justice’ launched as the most streamed original of 2025. ‘Kesari 2’ became the most watched Indian film on the platform. Furthermore, international content flourished as ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ topped JioHotstar revenues since its March 2025 launch.
